BE AN ENGLISH AS A
SECOND LANGUAGE TUTOR
NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED
Are you looking for a way to make a
difference in our Chula Vista Community, and you can’t find a volunteer
opportunity that works with your schedule? Then volunteer to help someone learn
English As A Second Language. If you can speak English, you can make a
difference in someone’s life. Attend two free Saturday tutor training
sessions, and get matched with adult learners who need your help. You can
schedule tutoring times convenient for your schedule, and close to where you
live. The next 12 hour training will be
April 10 and April 17,
2010
from 10-4 each Saturday
at the
Literacy Center of the
Chula Vista Public Library
389 Orange Ave. Chula
Vista 91911
The instructor will be
Carolyn McGavock, currently
an adult ESL instructor currently on the Continuing Education Faculty
of San Diego Community College. Carolyn
has taught ESL to adults since 1991 in Washington, New York and California.
In addition to teaching ESL, she has taught Citizenship, Family Literacy
and Vocational ESL classes. She has previously led other highly
acclaimed Laubach basic and intermediate workshops, and was a
featured presenter at the 2008 and 2009 READ/San Diego Conferences.
