Carolyn McGavock is an adult ESL instructor currently on the Continuing Education faculty of San Diego Community College  Carolyn has taught ESL to adults since 1991 in Washington, New York and California. In addition to teaching ESL, she has taught Citizenship, Family Literacy and Vocational ESL classes. She has won wide praise for many tutor trainings for Laubach. She will discuss the general principles of tutoring intermediate level learners and using Lifelines and Side By Side as instructional material.

 

Ann Gianola is the author of twenty-two high-interest adult readers for New Readers Press. She will share samples of stories and activities designed for students at the introductory, low-beginning, high-beginning, and low-intermediate levels. Her titles include More Stories PlusMore Easy Stories PlusThat's Life, and Life Goes On. She will also introduce her newest series, Novel Scenes, a series of four continuing stories that motivate students to read and develop fluency. In addition, Ann has been an ESL instructor for San Diego Community College Continuing Education for twenty-seven years.
